Some special events are best photographed from the air in order to provide a perspective that ground-based photos cannot . These missions are exciting and rewarding for SkySite’s pilots and photographers as well as the clients. The planning and coordination process we go through ensures that we will capture special events succesfully. Every detail is reviewed and confirmed, from the best time of day to do the photography to properly staging the scene on the ground. With these missions, we only get “one shot”. You can trust Skysite Aerial Photography to get it right the first and only time!
In May 2010, SkySite was hired by Charlotte Motor Speedway to photograph the Coca-Cola 600, one of NASCAR’s premiere events. After receiving a special waiver from the TSA and FAA, we flew over the speedway as fans arrived by the thousands. The weather was perfect, the photos documented all areas of the facility, and the Speedway was pleased with the results. We produced a collage of selected images and custom framed it for the owner of the speedway.

There is no greater gift to an aircraft owner than a series of photographs of the plane on the ground and in flight. With safety the top priority, SkySite photographers capture a wide variety of views of the plane in all phases of operation. We can then make a collage of images or simply frame the one that the owner feels is best.

Every fall in North Carolina, corn mazes are carved out of fields and are popular attractions. Maps made from our aerial photos are given to visitors to guide them through the maze. The images are also used on websites to promote the new designs. In 2009, we photographed a maze dedicated to the memory of NCSU legend Kay Yow.

SkySite Aerial Photography created this commemorative poster of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Raleigh, NC for Choate Construction. A large custom framed print, which SkySite also produced, hangs in their office in Raleigh.
SkySite was hired by the general contractor, Choate Construction in Charlotte, NC, to provide monthly construction progress photos of the new zMAX Dragway in Concord (adjacent to the Charlotte Motor Speedway). We then photographed opening day races to document this unique project. For the first time in National Hot Rod Association history, all four professional classes can race four-wide for all qualifying sessions and eliminations.

In December 2003, SkySite Aerial Photography worked with Honda Motor Co., Ltd. to capture photographs and air-to-air video of the "First Flight" of the new HondaJet. The tests were conducted in Greensboro, NC at the Piedmont Triad International Airport. Some of SkySite's photos were seen on page 15 in the March 2004 issue of FLYING magazine. As you can see, the HondaJet is a beautiful aircraft. It was an honor to photograph this breakthrough design, a piece of aviation history.
